The upcoming Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is still a few months away from being revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, but the early returns from the company’s private viewings have indicated that Lamborghini may just have hit a home run.

One of the markets that’s already in-line for the successor to the Murcielago is Singapore, where a pre-production unit was flown in for a private preview for Lamborghini customers. According to Melvin Goh, chief of Lamborghini Singapore, the interest in the Aventador comes as a result of the brand’s growing appeal and improved image and visibility in the Asian market.

“In the last five years since the arrival of the Murcielago and Gallardo, people now understand the cars better and realize the products are good,” he said. “On that note, they are willing to book one even when it’s new and before it is here.”

The Murcielago has been Lamborghini’s halo answer to the supercar world for years, but it’s set to be replaced by another fine beast that will carry on its position at the top of the Lamborghini pecking order.
Rumours suggest it could be named the Jota (pronounced with a ‘y’ sound for the ‘J’) or Aventador, it’s set to feature Lamborghini’s all new directly injected V12 engine – a 6.5-litre V12. Lamborghini says the new V12 produces a staggering 525kW and 690Nm of torque. The new engine will certainly give the Murcielago successor some added pep in its step.

Also likely to receive a substantial change is the 0-100km/h time. The new seven-speed gearbox uses ISR (Independent Shifting Rods), which allows shift times of up to 50% quicker than a conventional dual-clutch gearbox and 40% faster than Lamborghini’s current e-gear system. The Jota will of course be all-wheel-drive.

We're sure everyone in the world who has even a remote inkling of passion for automobiles was heartbroken to hear Lamborghini announce the end of the venerable Murcielago last year. This feeling was, of course, short lived when rumors and soon spy shots of a replacement bull to take up the reigns as the Italian supercar maker's flagship model began circulating the interwebs. While the titillating curves of what will surely grace bedroom posters of the next generation of car lovers haven't been revealed as of yet, the monstrous all-new V12 engine that will form the heart of this beast has just been revealed for all to behold. But this does mean that the engine that served diligently in the Murcielago is on its way out as well and it really doesn't seem fair to talk about the new motor before saying a few words about the one it'll be replacing.

The 6.5-litre V12 engine which was in the Murcielago has its roots in the 3.5-litre 60-degree V12 that originally debuted in Lamborghini's first car, the 350GT. Surprisingly, apart from a change from carburetion to fuel-injection and in increase in cubic capacity, there have been few changes in the engine block in its 47 year history. In fact, this wholly remarkable engine has powered all the baddest bulls from Sant'Agata Bolognese - the Miura, the Countach, the Diablo and the Murcielago, not to mention one the most outrageous SUVs ever made, the Lamborghini LM002.

Champagne corks are popping at Lamborghini. The exotic marque has announced that the 10,000th Gallardo has rolled off the assembly line here, bound for an owner in China.

The 10,000th Gallardo is a "Midas" yellow model that will be showcased during Lamborghini Day in Shanghai on June 25 before being handed over to its new, unidentified owner.

Lamborghini said the Gallardo "has become the most successful Lamborghini model of all time." The original Gallardo coupe was launched in 2003, followed by the Spyder and Superleggera models, as well as special editions such as the Gallardo SE and Nera.

Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has announced the recall of both coupe and the roadster versions of the 2007 and 2008 model year Murcielago. The issue concerns some fault in the fuel system of the car.

Announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Murcielago and Murcielago Roadster vehicles have been recalled to fix the faulty fuel pump located inside the fuel tank. The welds on the fuel pump have the potential to get detached and thus leak fuel outside of the tank. As the fuel tank is placed close to the engine, in the presence of an ignition source close to the leakage may result into a fire.

As a remedy, Lamborghini dealers will replace the flawed fuel pump and tank of these Murcielagos for free. The affected vehicles include a total of 428 units. According to the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), welds holding the fuel pumps of the $350,000 supercars in place could fail under stress, resulting in a fuel leak. The tuning house likes to tell everyone that the supercar is now called the “Quattro Veloce” and has forced the vehicle to wear carbon fiber clothing. The Murcielago has received a new front fascia, featuring new, aggressive air intakes, an air splitter and a modified hood.

Moving to the side of the vehicle, we find new wings and a fresh fuel filler cap. At the rear of the car, the tuner has fitted a large diffuser and a generous wing. The Quattro Veloce’s V12 engine has been carbon fiber-caged and can be ordered with a remapped ECU.

Chen Su Jin Miao, 21, managed to create his very own Lamborghini in his basement - for just £3,000.

The real thing would cost £290,000. But Chen painstakingly built his own version, in tasteful canary yellow, from spare parts over seven years.

Even though the car can only reach 40mph, he is happy.

Chen, from Hunan province in China, said: "I am not rich so I knew I could never afford a Lamborghini. But in my eyes my version is just as good."

It's no secret that Lamborghini is working hard to get its Murcielago replacement, the Jota, out the door. We've already caught sight of heavily camouflaged prototypes in testing, and it appears that the highly anticipated supercar is on the move again, this time on public roads.

When the Jota launches in 2011, it will have some relatively big shoes to fill, but Lamborghini is definitely prepared to do battle with the next generation of supercars. The Jota will be lighter, more powerful and more high-tech than the outgoing Murcielago – curb weight is estimated to be around 3,300 pounds, and a new 7.0-liter V12 is in the works, rumored to produce over 700 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. We spend two days with the second generation Gallardo Superleggera in and around the Italian city of Milan and are about to tell you all about it.

But since the original Superleggera is probably not something you see or hear about every day we will refresh your memory. In 2007 Lamborghini started production of a light-weight version of the Lamborghini Gallardo. The engineers at the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese took the standard Gallardo and stripped away as much weight as possible. In total they saved 100 kg, hence the name superleggera that directly translated means superlight. The Superleggera was lighter and more powerful, resulting in faster acceleration and quicker laps on track. However this came at a price, the Superleggera was a lot more expensive and a lot less comfortable than the standard Gallardo. From it’s introduction in 2007 til the introduction of the next generation Gallardo a year later, Lamborghini produced and sold 618 pieces of the Superleggera.

ENCO offers a wide variety of carbon fiber details from a GT3 design front bumper to a carbon fiber interior finish.

More torture for us. We are now being forced to do nearly thirty laps all-out on a gorgeous circuit in southern Spain in Lamborghini’s latest hot performer, the 2011 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. You may recall the previous generation Gallardo limited-run Superleggera that we tried in early 2007 and that was a goodie, but it didn’t honestly get the full-on treatment and those shortfalls just slightly flawed the drive experience.

This time, Lamborghini has gone about 9.75 on a scale of ten when it comes to all-out re-engineering in all the right little ways. Nothing helps us notice all of what works so well here more than doing lots of hot laps at the 2.8-mile long circuit at Monteblanco in southern Spain. The weather was ideal for exactly this test, too, so we really ripped into it.

The eleven curves, long main straight, and several decent elevation changes, also left their mark on us as we threw the Superleggera too and fro without much mercy. Right out of the main straight, by the braking point having reached nearly 170 miles per hour, there’s a second-gear tight right that requires massive braking forces to set it up right and get off to a good start on every lap. The carbon ceramic optional brake discs aided in this excitement all day long without complaining a bit. That the discs are still optional when every single buyer of a Superleggera paying $237,600 will buy the ceramics did, however, make us complain. It’s shameless profiteering and this sort of crap marketing needs to go away once and for all.

Our favorite test-the-car’s-limits curve was Turn 2, though, a long, sweeping left that climbs and then drops down, and is even feeling a little off-camber. Through here, we had to really stay on throttle through third gear and at around 6500 rpm, but the drama was steady eddy. The finest feeling through here was noting how much the 4wd chassis and differential was working while it stayed up on its toes. This driving dynamic is the real Superleggera experience, beyond the obvious go-kart qualities that are more enhanced in turn after turn.

Throughout this terrific track day, we couldn’t help but feel sad knowing that about as high a percentage of Superleggera buyers will ever drive their car like this as SUV buyers who really head offroad for overland adventures. This car belongs on the track almost exclusively. The first practical reason for this opinion being that the suspension is perfect on the smooth and closed-circuit track, while its lack of adaptability makes the Superleggera really terrible on everyday rough roads and around town. But out here at Monteblanco we were raving about the quality of the ride and handling.

The six-speed Graziano automated manual with no torque converter has found its perfect home here in exactly this car and in these conditions. In full automatic mode for tooling around town or cruising, again, it’s no fun, as we have noted on other cars that still use this gearbox (mainly for its strength, light weight, and compactness). In Sport mode, things get better and more in keeping with the Graziano’s characteristics. But in Corsa (i.e. Race) the Lamborghini e-gear automated manual is perfect when seeking the stress limits of the powertrain and chassis on a hot track. A six-speed manual is still available as a no-cost option, but accounts for only three percent of all Lamborghini sales at this point.

The number 570 refers to the maximum power output in CV, which equates to 419 kW and is available at 8,000 rpm. Equally impressive is the pulling power – the torque curve peaks at 540 Nm (398,3 ft lbs) at 6,500 rpm. The increase of 7 kW (10 CV) is the result of the new dedicated engine management strategy.

BF-performance engineers have tuned both the coupe and the spyder versions of the Gallardo LP560-4. With its enhanced performance, added self-confidence and more aggressive looks, the new Gallardo has been rechristened as the GT600.

The first looks reveal the aerodynamic package produced entirely in carbon. These include the voluminous air inlets, a new front spoiler, side skirts, a rear diffuser and the striking carbon rear wing.

The performance figures have not been announced officially as of now; however, BF-performance boasts of the Gallardo GT600 beating the stronger Lamborghini Murciélago LP640-4 SV by an impressive lead of 0.6 seconds. The GT600 can be modified from a four-wheel drive car to a rear-drive super car. The carbon fiber aerodynamic kit favors the reduction in weight by 43 kilogramme.

We respectfully disagree with BF Performance’s contention that “the Gallardo is too innocent and neither dynamic nor individual enough”, but we’ll take a look at its tune anyway. The tuner’s GT600 package is available for either the coupe or Spyder and centers around a carbon body kit with side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. The tune also gets wing doors “for the special appearance” and carbon ceramic brakes.

BF doesn’t get too weighed down with details, but boasts that it has increased engine performance to the point that the GT600 can outperform the Murcielago LP640-4 SV. The tuner also offers customers the option of switching from all-wheel to rear-wheel drive.

With the Lamborghini Murcielago nearing the end of its exotic production run, the Italian automaker is already underway with plans to replace the current Murcielago with a new super car. Current rumors are saying that it will be called the Jota and should be launched sometime in 2012.

In accordance with traditional Lamborghini nomenclature, Ferrucho liked to name his creations after infamous fighting bulls. However, there is no connection to the rumored Jota name, but the name was used on a very select run of Miuras and Diablos that underwent a few race inspired upgrades. This latest rendering gives us a new idea as to what the upcoming super car might look like. What we do know is that the 2012 Jota will feature a host of lightweight aluminum body parts, making it much lighter than its predecessor and will be powered by a brand new V12 producing around 700 HP.

A German design student has come up with a killer concept for a next generation Lamborghini that's a cross between the Reventon and the Batmobile. Slavche Tanevsky's vehicle is dubbed the Ankonian after a breed of black-haired bull in a nod to the famed marque's mascot. It features a fairly narrow body, cab backward classical GT silhouette, and a mélange of soft and angular surfaces. Tanevsky, a design student at Munich University, says the main themes behind the concept are "underground" and "hardcore", reinforced by a combination of shiny black and matte charcoal finishes. Lamborghini's engineers, who are apparently impressed with Tanevsky's work, helped him render the concept which could one day make it's way into production.

The upcoming Geneva Auto Show could be the occasion for the debut of Lamborghini’s new model- the LP570-4 SV. Rumors have been around about a new version of the Lambo in the making. The Team Speed forum reports the Lamborghini LP570-4 Super Veloce will be an incarnation of the current high performance Gallardo LP 560-4.

The Lamborghini LP570-4 SV is expected to have stronger performance figures and some unique design cues. According to the reports, at least a 10 HP would be added to the current 560 HP. The car should also be considerably lighter than its predecessor, just like the Superlegerra version managed to lose 100 kg than the normal Gallardo.

As far as the looks are concerned, the next Gallardo model is expected to feature a reworked front suspension along with a new carbon ceramic brake package. Its stripped interior certainly lowers curb weight. The aerodynamics package comprising a new front spoiler and a large carbon fiber aero-spoiler at the rear will also help to reduce weight.

In addition to this hot AWD Gallardo LP570-4 SV, there are also reports of an even meaner version in the making. Named the LP-590-2, it is a hopped-up RWD version with 590 HP that resembles the current Valentino Balboni edition. It is said to be the fifth and final hardcore version of the Gallardo LP560-4 series and will reportedly hit the markets in late 2010 or early 2011. This model will continue its run until the arrival of the next Gallardo in 2012.

Rumor has it that Lamborghini is planning a hardcore version of the Gallardo LP560-4 called the Gallardo LP570-4 SV (SuperVeloce). Insiders say that the model will be stripped down but will only push out 10 more horsepower than the base model. The front suspension will also see some work and carbon ceramic brakes are aslo expected. You can also look forward to seeing some aggressive body design cues.

Lamborghini will show dealers and VIPs the car sometime next month with a public unveiling at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Deliveries should begin around May.

The folks over at TeamSpeed say that the Gallardo LP570-4 SV won’t be the last version of the supercar before it goes under a redesign in 2012. A hardcore rear-wheel-drive version is also expected to debut sometime in early 2011.

Lamborghini has added a sixth dealership to the UK network, with the opening of Lamborghini Sevenoaks.

Part of Jardine Motors, which also operates Lamborghini Reading, the Kent location provides full sales and aftersales facilities, as well as retailing the brand's Collezione Automobili Lamborghini merchandise range.

"Jardine Motors is delighted to open a second Lamborghini business in the UK," said Ian Barrow, General Manager for Lamborghini Sevenoaks. "Our location, next to Sevenoaks station means we are conveniently placed to look after the Kent region and surrounding areas. We're proud to be investing in Lamborghini for the long-term benefit of both the brand and its clients."

The UK network is now comprised of six dealers in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Reading and Kent.

Edo Competition Tunes the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560/4

We wouldn’t say the 560-hp Lamborghini Gallardo LP560/4 is lacking power, but this didn’t stop Edo Competition from tinkering with the car. The tuner created the LP600/4, and, as the name suggests, it’s pumping out 600 hp through all four wheels.

Torque isn’t listed in that lengthy name, but it also rises to 422 lb-ft from the stock 398 lb-ft rating. Edo’s tuned LP600/4 is capable of sprinting from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds (compared to the stock 3.7 seconds), and manages to hit a top speed of 211 mph (10 mph faster than an LP560).

Edo doesn’t list all the modifications to the car, but it seems as if that extra power is largely derived from an engine chip and a custom stainless steel exhaust system. A neat trick: The exhaust has vacuum-actuated bypass valves like on a Chevrolet Corvette, but the driver can open and close them with the flick of a switch.

LP600/4s also receive a new sport suspension with adjustable damping and rebound, custom 19-inch three-piece racing wheels, and a new lip spoiler. Pricing isn’t discussed in Edo’s press release, but as the adage goes, if you have to ask…

Lamborghini Toro LA 690-4 Concept

Another Lamborghini Concept is out in the open, this one designed to compete with the long-awaited Lexus LFA and Aston Martin One-77 supercars.

The Lamborghini Toro LA 690-4 Concept is a sort of throwback to the Lambo

Espada, but special attention was paid to ensure it did not have the same modern-retro feel as many of the new muscle cars do, such as the 2010 Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, and Dodge Challenger.

The Toro Concept holds the designation as all new Lamborghini’s (LP560-4, LP550-2, etc,) but instead of the typical “LP” (which means “longitudinale posteriore” - referencing the position of the engine

,) the Toro is given the “LA” badge, meaning “longitudinale anteriore,” or front longitudinal - designating that the engine is instead placed in the front. The “690-4″ simply means that the Toro produces 690 horsepower and is all-wheel-drive.

The design of the Toro Concept has more than a hint of modern Lambo design, taking inspiration from jet fighters, much like the Lamborghini Reventon. I also see some design aspects from the Lamborghini Estoque sedan, especially in the front.

The Toro LA 690-4 Concept would be powered by a 690 horsepower V12 sitting in front, as I already explained, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The body, made from carbon fiber and magnesium would help the front-engined Lambo shed weight down to only 3,300 lbs. According to the creator of the Toro, this Lambo would also employ “Eco” fuel-saving techniques such as a direct injection engine capable of running both gasoline and biofuel, as well as a cylinder deactivation feature.

I, for one don’t think the words “Lamborghini” and “Eco” or “fuel-saving” should be uttered in the same sentence, but with the way automotive trends are heading we can expect to see these techniques in our supercars within the next few years. What a shame.

The Lamboghini Toro LA 690-4 would start at around 500,000 Euros ($731,600,) and would face the Lexus LFA, Aston Martin One-77, and Mercedes SLS AMG head-to-head.

This is all in theory, of course, as it is only a concept. It may not be far from an upcoming model, however, since Lambo is already looking for a front-mounted engine setup, and this concept does illustrate Lamborghini’s modern design very well.

The addition to Jardine’s Lamborghini Reading facility makes it 6 Lamborghini car dealers for the UK.

Ian Barrow is general manager there. ‘We’re proud to be investing in Lamborghini for the long-term benefit of both the brand and its clients,’ he said.

‘Jardine Motors is delighted to open a second Lamborghini business in the UK.’

The new Kent car dealer will offer full sales and aftersales facilities. It’s also going to be selling the post Collezione Automobil Lamborghini range of merchandise.

Edo Competition gets horsepower up to 600 on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.
Edo Competition has put together yet another aggressive package for an exotic Italian sports car with its latest kit for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 called the Edo LP600/4.

Edo starts by upgrading output to 600 horsepower — hence the name — and 422 pound-feet of torque with the addition of a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system and a reconfigured ECU. The exhaust system is equipped with butterfly valves that allow the driver to change the sound level on command via a switch in the cockpit.

The extra 40 horses over the stock Gallardo LP560-4 give the vehicle enough power to make it to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds and top out at an astounding 211 mph. That's a 0.2-second-quicker 0-60-mph time over stock and a 10-mph-faster top speed.

A sport suspension with adjustable damping and rebound as well as a reinforced front lip help keep the vehicle glued to the pavement at high speeds, while 19-inch three-piece rims finish off the package. The wheels come wrapped in 235/35 Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber in the front and the same tires sized 305/30 in back.

Although the tuner doesn't include any interior upgrades as standard, it does say that it can outfit the inside with "lavish leather upholstery" or meet any special customer request. Check out Edo Competition's Web site for more details.

Lamborghini Gallardo Twin Turbo Tuning by Underground Racing

If most people we know would say that the Lamborghini Gallardo is enough of a monster to get the eye when roaring down the streets, it looks like the crazy chaps from Underground Racing would like to disagree. And not only they disagreed, they also did something to actually take our breath away with — their twin-turbocharged Lamborghini Gallardo ‘Race Version’.

Custom built for one of their customers (some filthy rich guy called Jonah), this new Gallardo coming from their Lambo Pit is capable to put out nothing less than 1,500 hp using VP C16 racing fuel — which could translate to an unbelievable 1825 hp at the crank. Not munch is known on how these guys have managed to create such an amazing vehicle but the six-speed transmission, a sportier exhaust, improved air intake and the engine modifications certainly helped it with a sub-ten second time through the quarter mile at a speed exceeding 160 mph.

It was way back in issue 075 that SG54 LAM first thundered onto the pages of evo, then with a mere 64 miles on its clock. Regular readers may recall that my original plan of attack was to hang on to it for a few months, live the dream, then hopefully sell it on at a minimal loss, since Murciélagos were still rare beasts at the time. Trouble is, it just didn’t turn out like that. Over 122,000 miles later, the orange monster is still here. So what happened?

Quite early on I realised that instead of constantly shelling out, there had to be a way of generating an income from owning such a legend. Fortunately, through a bit of trial and error, I discovered that there was, and the rest, as they say, is history. So not only has this Murciélago rocketed past 120K, it’s also been driven by 1511 people on track and has traversed 16 countries in between.

Of course, SG54 retired from these pages in 2007 – when it had just shy of 45,000 miles on the clock – to be replaced by the awesome LP640. This would supposedly allow the old racehorse to take on lighter duties, but again, it wasn’t to be. So how has it been over the last 77,000 miles? Well, strangely enough it settled down after it left the Fast Fleet, and I’m pleased to report that it drives better than ever and has suffered only relatively minor issues such as the handbrake regularly going out of adjustment (a well-known Italian supercar trait), the odd ‘hunting’ episode at idle (thanks to wayward throttle bodies) and the rear spoiler refusing to go down when the ignition is switched off. On top of this, there’s been regular maintenance, which recently included the car’s fourth clutch at a not insignificant £5000. Interior-wise it still looks great, although unsurprisingly the Schedoni leather driver’s seat looks battle-scarred.

The Achilles heel of the 2001-2005 Murciélagos is undoubtedly the brakes. Derived from the Diablo 6.0, they are just about adequate for the road, but on track they fade dreadfully. Later Murciélagos benefit from the far superior front calipers and discs from the Gallardo, which transform the car’s stopping power, so upgrading SG54 seemed like an obvious move. Unfortunately it’s not quite as easy as one might think to upgrade an early Murciélago to the later spec, since the larger calipers also require the later Hercules or Hemera-style road wheels, as seen on the current LP640, and at about four grand these don’t come cheap. Nevertheless, with all the required parts gathered and delivered along with the car to Mode Performance at Silverstone (01327 855700), the job was done.

Constant use had resulted in some quite severe battle scars on the Lambo’s front bumper, so I put in a call to Audi dealer Smith Knight Fay of Stockport (0161 335 0724). Well used to working on carbonfibre, they actually ended up painting every panel bar the roof, doing a superb job that seemed very reasonable at a tad under £6000. As for the car’s current mechanical status, the tech bods at Lamborghini Manchester have noted that the V12 is now ‘a bit rattly’ – not surprising for a Murciélago that’s covered a mileage equivalent to driving around the planet nearly five times!

Having said that, the V12 consistently fires up like a wartime Merlin, and if I’m feeling particularly energetic I’ll still take the orange monster over the LP640. Why? Well it’s more ‘raw’ for sure, feeling like a Routemaster compared to the slickness of the newer car, but it’s also that bit more rewarding. It lacks the killer punch of the LP, but all the same I enjoy the extra effort required to wring the best out of it.

Car Crash: Lamborghini Murcielago in Switzerland

Late last Thursday in Switzerland a young drunk Russian driver crashed his Lamborghini Murcielago into a Volkswagen Golf, while racing friends in three other exotic cars on the outskirts of Geneva, leaving an elderly German badly injured.

The Moscow Times reports that all four drivers of the cars have been questioned and released, two of which are the sons of Russian multimillionaire Telman Ismailov.

The cars that the four Russians, aged between 20-24, were driving were a Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes Mclaren SLR, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Lamborghini Murcielago that crashed, which was apparently rented.

It is reported that the Murcielago driver lost control of his car and hit the Volkswagen Golf in front of him, sending it spinning into a guardrail. This resulted in the 70yr old German driver having to be cut from his car, and is currently in a serious condition in hospital.

The Murcielago is said to have fled the scene of the accident, but was later found by the police. The driver gave a breath test which indicated that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.11%. This is more than double the Swiss legal limit of 0.05% and nearly four times the level of the Russian limit of 0.03%.

One of the greatest things in the world is looking through the latest auto magazine and seeing all of the latest and greatest cars that are coming out. One of the cars that caught my eye that is due to come out in 2010 is going to be the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4; this incredible car is going to be honestly beautiful and built for speed.

This incredible car is not only one that looks like a masterpiece in appearance, but under the hood, it is completely and totally redone. It has all sorts of new things that only add to the appeal of this car. For example, there is an all new intake manifold, exhaust system, optimized valve train, engine computer and the engine actually pumps out about 670 HP, which is about 10 more HP than the Reventon.

If you do not know exactly what a Lamborghini is right now, you should probably google it. This incredible car is honestly one of the coolest looking, definitely unique and totally hip car in the world. While the price tag is a heck of a lot higher than most cars, if you really want to shine and shimmer and get noticed, a Lamborghini will do it for you!

There are a few things that you should probably know before you get one of these cars: make sure you have a garage! These cars are very, very rare and if you have the money to purchase this car, you should definitely keep it in storage so you can keep it a very, very long time – come on, look at it! It looks fantastic and you definitely do not want anything to happen to it!

To outside observers, the whole process looks complicated and, well, a bit silly.

Clicking the right most e.gear button on the center console of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 engages Corsa mode. A push of a silver switch on the center stack disables the stability control and lights up two amber Gallardos on the instrument panel, the smaller of the two indicating that ESP is completely off. Left-footing the brake pedal and matting the throttle revs the LP560-4’s engine to over 5000 rpm and creates a cacophony of popping and banging.

Releasing the brake pedal sends up a poof of smoke as the rear tires chirp and slip through not quite one full rotation. The car then bogs, as though hunkering down, before exploding forward a millisecond later.

Sure, we'd all like a new Lamborghini, but who has the discipline to save up $345,000 for a Murcielago LP460 coupe? Now spendthrift supercar aficionados don't have to. They can finance one.

Motor Authority reports, "Lamborghini has announced a new 'Retail Finance Plan' of low-interest loans for its most exclusive vehicles on the market, the Murcielago LP640 Coupe and Roadster (model years 2009 and 2010)." To bring the deal to market, "The supercar brand is partnering with Woodside Credit and Volkswagen Credit Inc."

Kicking Tires gives some more detail: "The offers include 5.9% for a 12-year term. Yes, 12 years. If you have really good credit, including a credit score of more than 740, you can get 0% financing for 60 months. That comes out to $5,310 a month after the required 10% down payment."

Most car loans range from three to five years, with a six-year loan considered to be very long.

Pietro Frigerio, Chief Operating Officer of Automobili Lamborghini America, said in a statement, "The Lamborghini Retail Finance Plan allows enthusiasts to finance one of most exclusive cars on the road at a more competitive rate than ever before."

So just what do you (assuming your credit score is above 740) get for your $34,500 down and $5,310 a month? Both the Murcielago coupe and roadster make 640 horsepower and have a 0-to-62 time of 3.4 seconds, according to Lamborghini. The coupe has a top speed of 211 miles per hour while the roadster tops out at 205 miles per hour. That works out to about $540 per unit of horsepower.

The Dutch are about to learn how Italian police catch speeders.

A Lamborghini police car with a top speed of 202 mph (325 kilometers per hour) was en route Thursday — presumably within the speed limits — from Italy to the eastern Dutch city of Ewijk to be the top attraction at a display of Dutch emergency services.

The car is equipped with the latest gadgetry, such as a medical platform under the hood that contains a cold box for transferring human donor organs.

An external camera feeds images to an onboard computer, which collates GPS data to calculate the speed of suspected violators. The images are transmitted to a police station where the number plate is checked.

The car was one of several that has been donated by its builders to Italian police. The 2008 model updated two cars Italian police received in 2004.

Dutch police spokesman Frank de Valk said the car will highlight a daylong demonstration Saturday for the public by police commandos, firefighters and ambulance services.

Although in active service, the Lamborghinis also have regularly appeared for ceremonial events, including New York's Columbus Day parade.

Some experts say the Lamborghini is the fastest police car in service, but one Web site, http://www.gizmag.com, claims a police vehicle from Germany's Brabus Rocket, an upgraded Mercedes-Benz, clocked 226 mph (362 kph ) at the 2006 Essen Motor Show.

To celebrate Christmas Lamborghini-style, the Italian supercar company has produced a range of limited edition gift-boxed candles and ceramic baubles, inspired by its recently revealed Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni.

The ceramic baubles in box-sets of three are finished in contrasting Blue Caelum and White Monocerus, two of eight colours in which the Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, a model dedicated to the legendary Lamborghini test driver, was launched this year. A set of slow-burning candles in the same colors is also available.

Finally, for fans of Lamborghini’s recently launched Reventón Roadster, Lamborghini has also launched a new clothing range that includes sweatshirts and long-sleeved polos.

Other items include trench coats, T-shirts, and faux-fur hooded jackets.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640 JB-R Storms In

German tuner JB Car Design specialize in building one-off, bespoke vehicles designed to meet individual client's every whim no matter how demanding they may be. JB Car Design even brags that it can rearrange a car’s entire cabin if a client so desires, but thankfully this option hasn’t been applied to the firm’s latest custom Lamborghini Murcielago ‘LP-640 JB-R’.

The extent of the modifications extends to almost every inch of the Murcielago. In fact, of the original Lamborghini only the doors remain the same--even the roof panel is changed. There’s a bolder, more aggressive front bumper, eye-catching sills, a more dynamic rear, and a specially designed titanium sports exhaust system.

Such a bespoke exterior appearance has to be matched on the inside, and luckily the tuning firm also has experience in this area. Rich leather and hand-finished aluminum accents abound, and little touches such as the specially engineered aluminum air vents reveal the extent that the firm goes to when creating its cars.

Power upgrades range from about 710 to 750-horsepower, and are joined by a new F1-style steering wheel with a rocker switch for shifting gears. Other modifications include 20-inch Schmidt Revolution aluminium wheels and the aforementioned titanium sports exhaust system.

Pricing for the conversion starts at more than €500,000 (approximately $738,348), plus a Lamborghini Murcielago, of course.

One-Off JB Design LP640

JB Car Design have a special LP640 up for sale at the moment. They are occasional car tuners and the LP640 was their latest product. It’s up for €355,000, needless to say, the 2008 car features a whole host of upgrades that make up for the cost.

To start with the body modifications, all parts were constructed in carbon fibre. There’s new front & rear spoilers, mirror casing, a larger diffuser, a new air manifold, side skirts and a re-designed bonnet.

The 20″ Schmidt Revolution Wheels hide a set of ceramic brakes with contrasting yellow calipers. The body work has been carried out in a unique colour; “Blood to Black Diamond” which is limited to 911 liters worldwide. 10 coats of this have been applied.

2010 Lamborghini LP550-2 Valentino Balboni

As a back-to-the-future model, the LP550-2 not only lists no technical breakthroughs, it actually goes backwards.

For starters, Lambo ripped a lot of weight out of the LP560-4’s front diff compared to the original Gallardo, but the Balboni car does away with it, and the centre diff, completely.

Not just that, but it has less power, too. That’s only a minor software tweak, though, because the only mechanical difference through the powertrain (apart from the amputated diffs) is a new exhaust.

Though the LP550-2 Balboni doesn’t take Lamborghini in a new styling direction, it does modify the existing goods a bit. Shy people don’t go near Lamborghini showrooms with checkbooks, but you’ll need an astonishingly high tolerance for attention to fork out for a Balboni edition car, even if there’s only 250 of them worldwide.

For starters, the colours are, well, bright. Bright yellow, bright green, just plain bright. Then, in case anybody missed it, there’s a long white stripe down the middle, then another offset stripe down one side of that.

Visually, it’s a trifle loud, perhaps.

It’s a bit the same inside, with the two sharpest color contrasts they could find in the leather shop slapped together to make a lighter, brighter interior, all the way from the seats to the dashboard.

And then there’s Balboni’s signature, machined into a piece of alloy that you see every time you approach the door handle.

It still has satellite navigation, it still has the Audi-sourced multi-media system and screen and it still feels like a luxurious, comfortable place from which to launch attacks.

Featuring exclusive Versace logos plastered in all the right places, the 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 Roadster Versace is by special order only. Lamborghini touts the Versace edition Murcielago as a partnership between two exclusive Italian luxury brands.

The open-top Lambo has all the standard features of the screaming-fast Murcielago LP 640, decked out in white with white-and-black leather and a new clear casing for the engine cover. More photos on the way as they are released.

2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

Making its worldwide premiere in Geneva, Lamborghini’s facelifted Gallardo features a series of styling and mechanical updates including a more powerful V10 engine. Design-wise, the all-wheel-drive coupe from Sant’Agata stands out thanks to the more aggressively styled front and rear-ends that give the Gallardo LP560-4 a menacing new look.

Looks however are only half the story on the 2009 Gallardo LP560-4 as Lamborghini upgraded the 5.2-liter V10 engine that now develops 560 Hp at 8,000 rpm. The increase of 40 Hp compared with that of the previous Gallardo, and the approximate 20 kg or 44 lbs reduction in weight, improves the power weight ratio to 2.5 kg per Hp and thus enhances performance. According to Lambo, the LP560-4 accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 sec; its speed at 11.8 sec is 200 km/h (124 mph) while its top speed lies at 325 km/h or 202 mph. At the same time, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 18 per cent.

Additionally, Lamborghini's engineers have also redesigned the four-wheel drive transmission and the suspension improving traction, handling and stability at high speeds.
